Kids Eat for Free or Cheap!!

I shared this list on another website, and then decided to blog about it!

In this day of high prices at the gas pump and grocery store, it is a relief to find some ways to save money and still have fun!

Here is a list I have compiled (by getting on the phone and calling around) of the restaurants that have good deals!!! I am not done calling, so I will add to this list in the near future.

Applebee's
Wednesday....Kids eat for .99 (drink included) (12 yrs. or less)

Cafe Ole'
Monday...2 kids eat free, with one adult entree. Enjoy a Pina'ta Bust for the kids from 4-closed!

Dennys
Tuesday & Saturday, 4-10 pm....2 kids eat free with an adult entee. (10 years or less)

Dickey's BBQ Pit (Eagle/Meridian)
Sunday...all day. One kid meal free with one adult entree.

IHOP
Tuesday, 4 -10 pm...kids eat free (12 yrs. or less)

Joe's Crab Shack
Tuesday, all day...Kids eat for $2.00. If anyone wears a Joe's CS t-shirt on Tuesday, you get a free scoop of ice cream!

Lone Star Steakhouse (Meridian)
Tuesday & Saturday...all day. 2 kids eat free with one adult entree. (12 yrs. or less)

Pizza Hut
Tuesday, all day....kids get free personal pans with the purchase of a medium one topping (or more) pizza.

Smokey Mountain Pizza & Pasta
Sunday...kids eat free all day!

Tony Roma's (Meridian)
Tuesday, all day....2 kids eat free with one adult entree. (12 yrs. or less)

That is all that I have compiled at this time. I am still checking on others.

Last night we took two of our kids (Ashley is at Camp), to Applebee's and spent less then we have in a long time!! Alex was even concerned that one kid's meal wasn't going to be enough for him, so we ordered two meals for him, and they still only charged us .99 for each one! Basically we fed two kids for $3.00! That was awesome! We are thinking that we will be eating out once a week...during the week!!
If you don't live in my area, then you will need to call these restaurants in your town, and check. I guess participating stores varies according to location!

The End of an Era!

Duane and I have officially made the decision to no longer home-educate our children! After 7 years of teaching my kids at home, this is going to be very new and different for me!

I want to say at this time, that we are still very supportive of home-education, and have seen it done right and well, over and over again. For all of my friends that are teaching from home, you still have my 100% support and prayers!

This is a personal decision for our children, that we have felt God leading us to make! We have spent many hours praying and seeking, and we are at total peace!
If you would be so kind as to keep our family in your prayers as we all adjust to this, that would mean the world to us! If you find yourself feeling opinionated or frustrated with us for making this choice, please focus on praying for us to do God's will for our family, as you do the same for your's!

God has been good to us, and has provided strength and help for every step of the way! We can't begin to think that He won't walk right beside our children, as they go "off" to school! While they will be receiving their education in a school, we will not cease to home-educate them in God's ways!

The children are excited, and we are still in the process of getting them all signed up! Summer is speeding by, and this momma has so much to accomplish in the next few weeks! I could really use your prayers!

Blessings!
Sheila

P.S. I have a TON of school stuff to sell, and will start posting pictures tomorrow of what I have!!

Seventeen!!

Seventeen years ago, I married the man of my dreams! Seventeen years later, I am so madly in love with him!!
I have heard from those have walked this road before us, that true love grows only deeper...we are finding that to be the truth!
Duane is not only a part of my heart, he has become my heart! He is the one that knows the most about me, and still smiles when I walk in a room...that is love!

I love so many things about him, and it seems impossible to sum it up in only a few words...

I love his gentleness
I love his stability
I love his strength
I love his values
I love his attention to details
I love his ability to work through conflict
I love his crooked smile
I love the way he looks at me
I love his good looks
I love his desire to be a man of God
I love how deeply he is committed to his family
I love how he treats old people
I love how he treats little ones
I love how he treats his mother
I love how he lovingly teaches our son to be a good man
I love his gentle ways with his daughters
I love his strong work ethic
I love everything about him!

Is he perfect.....no, but almost! (wink)

Darling, Thank you for the seventeen best years of my life! You are still the one that takes my breath away!
Happy Anniversary!

Amy from Iowa

God has blessed me with many wonderful friends who each bring something priceless into our friendship!
One such friend is Amy. She is my friend from Iowa, whom I have never laid eyes on, other than in a picture.
She and I met on an online Tea Society, and struck up a friendship that has become something akin to a refreshing drink of cold, sweet iced tea on a hot Summer day!

Our friendship is going on four years old, and although we have never met face to face, she is such a special friend!

She called me this week, and for an hour we shared our lives, laughed, talked about our children, and Amy being a bit older than I, can inspire me and her wisdom is treasured!
The support that Amy gives me, is a treasure, and I know that daily she is praying for me over her morning cup of tea!

She was going to come and see me this Summer, but it didn't work out. Maybe next Summer! Her husband also owns a landscaping company, so she understands the Summer vs. Winter Schedule we landscaping families find ourselves in!

I just wanted to publicly say "Thanks, Amy! I love you and am so grateful that our paths have crossed! My prayers are with you as your life starts to change and that God's leadership will be very clear to you!"

Kindred Hearts!

An American Girl Adventure!

(Brooklyn, Courtney, Emme, Addison, Kenlee, Nikki, Bridgette and Alyssa)

This afternoon after meeting for lunch with seven little girls, and one very little boy, Talisha, Stephanie, Ashley and I took all those kids to see the American Girl, Kit Kittredge movie!
With their American Girl Dolls in tow, we marched into our seats looking like we were on a field trip with a girl's orphanage! It was an adorable movie, shared with seven sweet little girls!

Update on Nikki and a First for Alex

Today, Nikki had an appointment with Dr. Kevin Shea, a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon. He did more x-rays on her arm, and showed us how nicely her arm is already healing!! He is going to check her with more x-rays in 4 weeks.
In the meantime, she has to wear a sling, but no bandage! She is going to be able to swim in two weeks as water therapy...doctor's orders!
When we left the office, Nikki said, "I think I know SOMEBODY, who needs some ice cream!" I agreed, and to DQ we went!
Nikki is such an upbeat little girl, and has not complained about her broken arm once!! We are proud of her bravery, and are asking God to heal her arm quickly!

We were spending the afternoon and evening at Grandpa and Grandma Taylor's today, and Grandpa Bob asked Alex if he wanted to help with the mowing. Of course he did, so Grandpa showed him how to run the mower, and away Alex went!
Now he is excited to run a mowing crew for his dad's company!

Nikki's Accident

On Saturday evening, we were enjoying a lovely summer evening in the park with my family. The Aman's were all in town for a reunion.

As things were winding down about 8:30, Nikki was in the playground with all the kid cousins. She piled on the merry-go-round, and one of the adults was spinning them around. She fell off, because she lost her grip, and fell on her back. She started wailing, and her daddy tried to access the damage. She didn't want to move her left arm and didn't like it touched. We got in the car, and took her to the ER.

After having an x-ray done, we were told that she broke her arm. It is the humerus bone, right at the base of the humeral head.
It is a complete fracture, and the bone is shifted slightly to the outside of her arm.
She is not in a lot of pain except when her medicine wears off, she complains about her her lower arm hurting the most.

Because of the location of the fracture, they cannot cast it. So she has her arm in a sling and then it is bound to her chest with an ACE bandage.

We have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon in the morning, to determine what will be done from here.
For those of you who have asked, no it is not the same arm that she broke 1 1/2 years ago. It was her right wrist that time! She is our monkey, and has had the most accidents so far.....but we still love her and think we will keep her! (SMILE)

Last night, as I was helping her to bed, she said, "Mommy, I wish that I could go back to tomorrow, and not get on that Merry-Go-Round!"

Drumroll Please.........

Today, July 2, 2008, marks one year of being a blogger on Facing Grace! This blog is #222.

I have enjoyed every moment of sharing what is one my heart, and am surprised that I have so many faithful readers! Although few comment here (I guess to remain anonymous), I do know that you are here, and hope you stick around!

I am celebrating this monumental day, by laying flat on my back with the flu!! I have 11 people still living in my house, and the flu was not on my agenda!!

Here's to another year!

More pictures......

I realized last night, that I didn't have any pictures of Ashley Haight to share. So this morning, I took a couple of her. She is the quiet one, that is usually off playing alone, so I will have to make a point to get her in photos!

Leroy took Tucker outside for a game of soccer this morning. I enjoyed watching them play together!

Leroy came inside and said that he was getting too old to play with the dog!
