Mother's Day is over....at least it will be in about an hour. It has been a good day for me! I spent it with the people who mean the most to me in life, and they sweetly showered me with love...what more could I ask for!
I myself, have been blessed with an amazing example of a mother....my own. My mom is in my eyes one of the greatest women to walk the earth! Is she perfect....no! But she is wonderful! She has gone from being just 'mom', to being one of my dearest friends! I look to her for encouragement and support, and I am never disappointed. I know that she is always praying for us, and that she would go to the ends of the earth if that was needed!
I have watched my mom go through deep valleys and very dark nights...and all the while, her love for Jesus, her children, her family, and her friends never wavered!
I see my mom today as a strong, beautiful tree with deep roots. The winds of life assaulted her and attempted to knock her over, but her roots just grew deeper. Now she stands tall and strong, offering protection and rest to those who sit around her.
Mom, I will never have adequate words to tell you how much you mean to me! Thank you for giving me life, and for spending the last 36 years, showing me what it truly means to be loved!
My mother-in-law, Margaret, did not give me the gift of life, but she gave me an equally wonderful gift...my husband!
For the first 19 years of his life, she invested herself into making him a honorable man, and for that, I am forever grateful! Today, she continues to invest not only into his life, but mine and our children's, as well!
Mother has shown me, what truly depending on God looks like! She just this last March reached her 5 year anniversary as a Cancer Survivor, and I watched as she fought the disease hard, but trusted God harder! Today she is a walking example of God's healing power!
Mother, thank you for your love and for your devotion to your family! Raising four boys couldn't have been easy...but you did it well! Today, they are all men of God, honorable husbands and loving fathers...I think it must have had something to do with 'big' eye-glasses & a sewing machine (long story...another post)! We love you!
There is another woman that has a very special place in my heart...my (step) mom, Colleen. She was married to my dad for nine years, and she has shown us so much love! She is one of the most compassionate, caring individuals I know!
Colleen has had a lot of really sad things happen to her, but she always gets up, brushes herself off and keeps going! I admire her strength, and her fierce devotion to family!
Colleen, thank you for loving those of us who are not originally yours, and for continuing to heap love onto us, even though 'life' has changed for you! You are a very important part of us, and always will be. You are a beautiful person, and we all love you!
I feel blessed to be "mom" to three precious children! One of my favorite quotes is, "To be a mother, is to have your heart go walking around outside of your body." That is so true!! Each one of these three gifts that God has given to me, hold a big piece of my heart!
My daily prayer is that God will fill me with His strength to be the mother He created me to be!
I am blessed!

Sheila, thank you for your kind words. With a daughter like you, how could a Mother go wrong?....yes, and a son like Aaron.
And thank you, Margaret for your contribution into Sheila's life. You did raise a wonderful son, someone I call my wonderful Son (in Law).
And Colleen, thank you for loving my son and daughter and those wonderful grandchildren that we call 'ours'.
Sue
